Worship with Women Retreat 2019
Feeding Your Forgotten Soul
On Saturday, March 30, from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., come to the Worship with Women Retreat at Aldersgate. Feed your forgotten soul by participating in worship, small groups, and workshops geared to women with women by women.
These are the featured workshops:
Michelle Matthews – Failing to Pray and Praying to Fail. We all have some preconceived notion about what it looks like and feels like to pray. But what if a life of prayer begins the day we acknowledge we don’t know how to pray, the day we acknowledge we will forever fail to pray. How do we find God in the failure, in the people, in the places and circumstances that distract us from praying? Join us as we study how Paul, through failing to pray, learned how to pray, and practice together a few means of prayer that you, in failing, can learn to perfect.
Karla Kincannon – Seeing With the Eyes of God. “Our world is absolutely transparent and God is shining through it all the time.”-Thomas Merton. If you yearn for insight and inspiration or search for meaning and depth in ordinary life events, join us for an experience of sacred seeing. Learn a prayer practice that teaches us to see God’s presence in the ordinary. In this ancient way of praying, we will dive deep into the center of our being to meet God in creativity. No artistic training is necessary.
Judy Jurkowski – Gentle Yoga Session. Gentle Yoga seeks to integrate the mind, body, and spirit. Class includes deep breathing, slow movement, gentle stretching and strengthening postures as well as restorative postures and relaxation. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring your yoga mat. Mats will be provided for those who do not have one.
Debbie Husband – Prayer Room. This option is available for those who feel led to spend some quiet, individual time with God. There is no organized program but there will be prayer stations which will provide the opportunity for deeper reflection and contemplation of the day’s scripture. Feel free to pray and journal and relax by taking some time for yourself and feeding your soul in this welcoming, peaceful space.
Childcare will be available and a light breakfast and lunch are included. Register on Sundays during coffee hour in Wesley Hall or online starting February 24.
Volunteers are needed. If you can help or would like more information, contact Pandy Jansen at PandyJ1@yahoo.com.
